Definitely more of a see-through type of material. Definitely stretches out upon wearing so sizing down is necessary. It's soft! Don't wash with anything that attracts lint, the little fuzzies will transfer. I didn't handwash, I put it in the washer on a slower cycle and hung it up on a clothing line for it to dry. The cardigan starts to slide upwards once the stretching out happens. It is a nice dress.
